Carnations for the eyes of the God of rain

This original conceptual mixed on canvas painting is of a face that has an owl and carnations above the eyes of the face. In the Taino culture, the Tainos believed that when the God of rain cried, his tears transformed to rain. The name of the God of Rain is Boinayel or Cemi Boinayel. In this exquisite mixed on canvas, above the God’s eyes, are pink carnations and his mouth looks as though he is worried or shocked. Here at Islands Arts, we believe that the owl symbolizes possible death which is why the God of Rain is crying. The owl is centered as part of the God of rain’s face.
