House of Tostado

In the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic lies the House of Tostado. The first owner of this two-story colonial mansion was Francisco Tostado de la Peña in 1505. Caribbean painter, Clelia Genao represents this original artwork via oil painting. Her true to life interpretation of this most fabulous, luxurious home is remarkable. At the upmost height of this house, there are Elizabethan Gothic style windows which overlook the city, and more proximate, the blue-gray streets and courtyards, shown in muted colors of browns, rusts, and blues. The thriving trees with their array of green and brown tones and the birds flying in the partly cloudy sky are perfect on this beautiful, warm day.
