Woman and yellow bird

Caribbean Artist, Jimmy Verdecia combines figurative art with surrealism in this original acrylic on canvas painting.  There is the profile of a lady framed inside a dark green window frame. Her eyes are closed as if she is in solitary moment in time. The lady is wearing a black blouse, but her shoulder facing the viewer and the top of her headdress are full of muted colors of green, grey, black, yellow, pink and white. The woman’s headdress is yellowish white and frames her face, as well as her dark hair, but the headdress extends along her back past her shoulders. The background behind her is bright blue. The small yellow bird holds his wings upward in a flapping motion with his talons curled as if he is coming in for the landing on the window sill. Centered in the foreground directly below the woman is a tropical flamingo lily, with its bright red, wax-like petals. The backdrop for the flower underneath the window has colors of gold, white, brown, orange, and black. Mr. Verdecia is an expert at shading and creating realistic shadows.
