The Elephant

Caribbean Artist, José Javier Contreras painted this spectacular painting of a strong, immense elephant. He said, “The elephant of wisdom is an animal that in other cultures symbolizes peace, wisdom and power”. This Dominican artist uses brush stokes that create a leathery texture, in turn bringing realism to the elephant’s trunk and hide. This massive creature seems to be walking out of the solid, rustic yellowish orange background, directly toward the viewer with determination.
